# Dashboard Basic Implementation

## Overview

✅ **To-Do #14: Dashboard Basic - COMPLETED**

Basic dashboard has been fully implemented with conversations view, settings pages, and analytics placeholder.

## Components

### 1. Conversations View

#### List Page (`src/app/(dashboard)/dashboard/conversations/page.tsx`)
- **Purpose**: Display all conversations for a site
- **Features**:
  - Table view with visitor ID, message count, last message time, created date
  - Link to conversation detail page
  - Refresh button
  - Loading and error states
  - Pagination support (via API)

#### Detail Page (`src/app/(dashboard)/dashboard/conversations/[conversationId]/page.tsx`)
- **Purpose**: Show conversation details with all messages
- **Features**:
  - Full conversation thread
  - Message formatting (user vs assistant)
  - Timestamps for each message
  - Token usage display
  - Evidence/sources display (if available)
  - Back to conversations list link

### 2. Settings Pages

#### Voice Settings (`src/app/(dashboard)/dashboard/settings/voice/page.tsx`)
- **Purpose**: Configure AI voice/personality
- **Settings**:
  - Tone: friendly, professional, casual, formal
  - Style: professional, conversational, helpful, enthusiastic
  - Language: en, es, fr, de
  - Personality: free-text description

#### Sales Settings (`src/app/(dashboard)/dashboard/settings/sales/page.tsx`)
- **Purpose**: Configure sales playbook and conversion settings
- **Settings**:
  - Enable product recommendations
  - Max recommendations per message (1-10)
  - Enable upsell suggestions
  - Enable cross-sell suggestions
  - Enable urgency messages
  - Enable discount prompts

#### Knowledge Settings (`src/app/(dashboard)/dashboard/settings/knowledge/page.tsx`)
- **Purpose**: Configure knowledge base and content sources
- **Settings**:
  - Content sources: products, pages, policies, FAQ
  - Auto-index content changes
  - Chunk size (500-2000 characters)
  - Top-K results (1-20)

#### Email Settings (`src/app/(dashboard)/dashboard/settings/email/page.tsx`)
- **Purpose**: Configure email service (from To-Do #12)
- Already implemented in previous task

### 3. Analytics Placeholder (`src/app/(dashboard)/dashboard/analytics/page.tsx`)
- **Purpose**: Placeholder for future analytics dashboard
- **Features**:
  - Coming soon message
  - List of planned features:
    - Conversation metrics
    - Message volume trends
    - Product recommendation performance
    - User engagement statistics
    - Conversion tracking

### 4. API Endpoints

#### GET /api/conversations (`src/api/conversations/route.ts`)
- **Purpose**: Get conversations list for a site
- **Query Params**: `site_id`, `limit?`, `offset?`
- **Response**: List of conversations with visitor info
- **Authentication**: Required (dashboard users)

#### GET /api/conversations/[conversationId] (`src/api/conversations/[conversationId]/route.ts`)
- **Purpose**: Get conversation details with messages
- **Query Params**: `site_id`
- **Response**: Full conversation with all messages
- **Authentication**: Required (dashboard users)

### 5. Navigation (`src/app/(dashboard)/dashboard/layout.tsx`)
- **Purpose**: Dashboard navigation menu
- **Links**:
  - Dashboard (home)
  - Conversations
  - Sites
  - Settings (dropdown):
    - Voice
    - Sales
    - Knowledge
    - Email
  - Analytics
- **Features**: Hover dropdown for settings submenu

## Database Queries

### Conversations List
- Queries `conversations` table with `visitors` join
- Filters by `site_id`
- Orders by `last_message_at` descending
- Includes visitor info (first_seen_at, last_seen_at)

### Conversation Detail
- Queries `conversations` table with `visitors` join
- Queries `messages` table for all messages in conversation
- Orders messages by `created_at` ascending

## UI/UX Features

- **Responsive Design**: Works on desktop and mobile
- **Loading States**: Shows loading indicators during data fetch
- **Error Handling**: Displays error messages with retry options
- **Table View**: Clean table layout for conversations list
- **Message Thread**: Chat-like interface for conversation detail
- **Form Validation**: Input validation for settings pages
- **Save Feedback**: Success/error alerts for settings saves

## Future Enhancements

1. **Settings Persistence**: Currently uses placeholder API calls - needs backend integration
2. **Real-time Updates**: WebSocket/SSE for live conversation updates
3. **Search/Filter**: Search conversations by visitor, date, keywords
4. **Export**: Export conversations to CSV/PDF
5. **Bulk Actions**: Select multiple conversations for actions
6. **Analytics Implementation**: Replace placeholder with real analytics
7. **Settings Validation**: Client and server-side validation
8. **Settings History**: Track settings changes over time

1. Test conversations list loading
2. Test conversation detail page
3. Test navigation between pages
4. Test settings pages (UI only - backend integration pending)
5. Test error states (no conversations, API errors)
